GIVING

“He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."

2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Why give?

First, Christians practice giving because this is part of worshiping God. By doing so, we acknowledge that God is the source of all that we have, but also that He is more important than our money. Giving to God should never be done as fulfilling an obligation, but as voluntary act. While God is pleased with generous giving, only that which is given gladly is received by Him. Second, we give because we recognise that the local church is called to do God’s work in the world, and that in order to fulfil this role financial means are needed, which are provided through the generous giving of its people.
